Image for Poolside Alchemy Formula
Poolside Alchemy Formula
Hello guys! 💧 What do you think about recreating the smell of a pool? Wet, marine undertones, clean and forever nostalgic? Liron Shalev (@unguentarius.phoebus ) the perfumer who joined the collective sharing project decided to bring us a formula that will encapsulate the magic, yet so simple and honest smell of a pool created on aromachemicals like Ambroxan, Veramoss, Cis-3-Hexenol, Cetalox, Cascalone and a few more others I am so happy for you to discover and blend. 💫 Liron Shalv: "Liron Shalev: "Hey, I am Liron Shalev, better known in the DIY community for my website Unguentarius.com. You can say I am more of an informatics guy, working on some perfumery-related projects I am very excited to share with you all very soon. I love the idea of sharing formulas, especially very short ones that can convey interesting concepts and call for experimentation and modification. I was inspired to create this accord when experimenting with the combination of Calone and Veramoss. My first association was that of burying my head inside a towel used in the swimming pool and dried in the sun. The effect was very ionic, chlorine, and iodine-like, and at the same time very warm and soothing. I replaced a big part of the Calone with Cascalone to maximize this watery ionic effect and reduce the sweet watermelon aspect of Calone. I felt some Ambrox is needed to complete this watery picture, but worried a high dose of Ambroxan could shift the main theme and make it more oceanic rather than a swimming pool. So I used a ratio of 3:1 Cetalox to Ambroxan to keep it quieter and more transparent. Then the cis-3-Haxanol and Viridine complete the picture with freshly cut grass and a bit of sunscreen, and the Habanolide supports the sun drying towel and rounds the edges of the sharper molecules. " *this formula needs to be dilluted at 5% if you want to apply it on the skin Let us know if you are going to try it and don't forget to check Liron's page and website as it is an amazing place to find new, fresh and amazing formulas made by him :@unguentarius.phoebus See you soon! 💧💫

Guys, coming back to you after the weekend with such an amazing formula shared not by a perfumer, but by a great website dedicated to GC/MS analysis and interpretations available to buy for educational purposes, @lab_torium. 👁❤ On their website, you can find a lot of free formulas for accords or even study type of famous scents alongside many perfumery stars on which you can have a closer look to understand, practice and get to know better how olfactory materials are working together for a better understanting on how a finished fragrance is made step by step and the best part is, they are constantly adding new formulas available to shop ☄ This time, @lab_torium shared the study formula for one of the greatest cheapie fragrances out on the market, The Dreamer by Versace, a musky, clean and masterfully blended. The best part of practicing blending alongside a GC/MS analysis is that you can compare and understand more how the notes pyramid is working, finding out what can create the famous lavender note without having real lavender in it (see the BR540, OFG and Black C post to have a clear vision on the Oud note in OFG) and also, how to modify, adapt and create a new fragrance out of an iconic base like The Dreamer. What is your oppinion on The Dreamer by Versace? Personally this one is a forever in my collection scents, such an icon. Let me know your oppinion on this formula if you are going to try it and don't forget to get @lab_torium at wisemoor.com/lab/ for more amazing formulas ❤ See you soon! ☄👁

Mandy does not work with accords. When I first contacted her to invite her in this project, I asked if she wants to share an accord formula. As a result, she decided to share a whole perfume formula. Thank you for your generosity, Mandy! ❤ Here, we have the formula of one of her scents called Alchemy.🍃 *the formula is measured in drops and it gives the numbers of drops of each essence to use in 15 ml of fractionated coconut oil or undenatured alcohol. Image for Bubblegum Accord
Bubblegum Accord
Hello guys! Do you like bubblegum in your perfumes? It can be such an interesting accord to blend with and today, @freddiealbrightonperfume is sharing his own bubblegum note in the collective sharing project! I couldn't be more excited about this so, I will let you enjoy Freddie's copy and beautiful accord. Thank you so much Freddie for your contribution in this project! 💖 “This bubblegum formula is as it appears in my latest fragrance release Last Minute Change Of ❤️“… bubblegum appears to be an extremely simple smell because it’s so familiar but the little nuances are fun to play with. The fantasy fruits have aspects of banana, raspberry, strawberry, pineapple and a hint of citrus, mixed with subtle cinnamon and clove spices. There is sharp sweetness of course but whatever you build on this can tame that - I used it by tying the clove and fruity acetates to an abstract jasmine accord and contrasted it with lots of cedar and sandalwood to “butch it up” a bit - ironically of course. In this accord there is both a powderiness and a balsamic quality that plays with the texture of bubblegum and not just the smell - adding a chewy, more solid effect that comes across much more fleshed out and “mature”. Accords like this, that rely on lots of little contrasting elements you wouldn’t expect together, means those aspects can be thrown in numerous directions - more ionones could be added to push it into a totally powdered iris bubblegum… the cinnamyl alcohol and eugenol blend seamlessly into florals - a bubblegum rose for example (which I’ve also played with using this formula). The pineapple notes can be added to, to create a more tropical, juicy-fruit gum. Anyway! I hope you enjoy playing with this as a starting point ☺️“

Condensed Milk Accord
Everyone, we continue to share accords in the collective sharing project and this time, the perfumer who joined is Michael Nordstrand. Trained at Givaudan (@givaudan @givaudanperfume), ISIPCA (@isipcaparis) and GIP (@gipgrasse), Michael works as an independent perfumer and teaches with @artandolfaction, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the furtherance of perfume education. For this post, Michael decided to share a sweetened condensed milk accord with some details to make it easier and more understandable for everyone trying to make it. Thank you so much @michaelnordstrandperfumer for your contribution in this project! Here it is and don't forget, sharing is caring: This accord, for me, specifically recalls cooking condensed milk over the stove in Grasse, France with a friend who is the Scientific Director of the Musée Internationale de la Parfumerie (@mip_grasse). It combines milky and creamy raw materials with some of the naturalistic, butyric facets inherent to dairy, which can be somewhat unpleasant to some noses if smelled on their own. These cheesy or buttery facets are balanced with materials that recall the many facets of condensed milk’s depth and sweetness: vanilla, caramel, smoky burnt sugar from the bottom of the pan, custard-like effects, nutty/toasted tonka and maple-like fruity notes, etc. To finish the accord and to make it more sensible for a fine fragrance application, there is a musk complex similar in profile to something like the supremely silken accord found in Musc Ravageur, which can be added or subtracted depending on the level of naturality the perfumer wishes to evoke. Too, the levels of milkiness, sweetness, etc. are all meant to be adjusted to the perfumer’s personal taste; we don’t all have the same experience with this food product! Happy blending.

Image for Dark Fruits Accord
Dark Fruits Accord
Everyone, we continue the collective sharing project with the precious contribution of Marrie-Pierre Blanchette, the founder and perfumer of the soon to be released perfume house @miskeoparfums from Berlin. Here, Marie decided to share a Dark Fruits accord she uses in one of her scents which I can't wait to try: -This accord is used in Pistil, one of our soon-to-be-launched perfumes. While shaping the structure for Pistil, I needed a fruit accord that would fit the dark and autumnal mood I had in mind and would feel like an old little round lady's orchard. I created a nectarine-plum fruit accord that feels really juicy, but also perhaps just past its prime and overripe, and where some of the fruits on the trees have started to dry out and wither. - The purpose of this project is to create a free data base for everyone looking for practical information, accord and scent making tips that will create a more transparent world regarding perfume making and industry. This makes the art truly accesible to everyone to appreciate, to study and to grow on perfumery, and the open call for perfumers who are willed to participate is still open, as this is an ongoing project. *everyone who appreciates, likes or uses the informations from this project is invited to share. Let's grow this together ❤ Thank you Marie for accepting my invitation in this project and for sharing a little part of your magic! See you soon, guys!🫐

Image for Gay Sex on the Peach
Gay Sex on the Peach
🍑Do you like peaches?🍑 Because today I am so happy to share with you a peachy, sunny and almost intoxicating accord made by Carter Weeks Maddox, the founder and perfumer of Chronotope, a brand that mostly speaks about body, language, contemporary subjects, object relations and perfume as a cultural text, covered in glorious scents created by Carter. @chronotope_perfume The Gay Sex on the Peach accord is used in one of Carter's fragrances called Playalinda, a scent structured around notes like peach, osmanthus, metallic notes, ambrette and vetiver. Here, Carter's statement around this accord and perfumery: Perfume frequently claims to evoke sex and bodies. But modern perfume, rooted in the Enlightment-era colonial practice of deodorizing bodies, is only rarely sex- or body-positive. No body, nor any of its secretions, has ever smelled of Ultrazur and/or Azurone—and none ever will. —Likewise, fruity florals have been and still are sold via replications of Humbert Humbert’s gaze at / upon Lolita. But it’s also true that Humbert Humbert is a ped***ilic rap**t. It is bewildering and sad to see perfume marketing opt so often to infantilize and prey upon its target audience rather than reflect back to those wearers signals of their very real, very human subjectivities—and their agency. —And perfume as an industry, including its consumer base, contains many queers. But queers and our experiences are rarely, if ever, explicitly represented in olfactive narratives. If it’s the juice that matters at the end of the day, we’ll need more than Ken doll bulges on bottles, please and thank you. —Lastly, a more thoughtful, respectful, uplifting, and expressive perfumery can exist, I know it. But it won’t be achieved spontaneously. Instead, perfumers must render it into being ourselves. The perfume this accord appears in, as well as the rest of the work I produce for Chronotope, proposes what I hope are meaningful, if imperfect, solutions—not compromises—that can help revise and then move beyond these object-relational, textual contradictions within modern perfumery. And I hope other perfumers might find my methodology of considering perfume in dialogic, intertextual terms relevant to and replicable within their own work. Enjoy! 🍑
