About the formula
Introduction
This formula was created by perfumer @michaelnordstrandperfumer, who wanted to recreate the beauty of Palo Santo, a sacred wood used as incense, in the face of recent restrictions on certain materials.
Why This Formula Is Unique
The formula avoids using Mint Lactone or its precursors, which are now restricted, instead utilizing natural materials found in the wood itself and others that contribute to the scent's depth, diffusion, and nuance.
The Scent
The aroma is a captivating blend of menthol-like coolness, lactonic sweetness, dry woodiness, citrusy notes, and smoky facets, evoking a sense of both the Americas and the tradition of incense. It's like a walk through a sacred forest, where the air is filled with the scent of burning wood and the aroma of wild herbs.
Application
This accord can be used in a variety of fragrance applications, from fine perfumes to home scents. It would be particularly well-suited for creating candles, diffusers, and body products with a mystical and grounding vibe. Its versatility allows for creative experimentation with proportions to personalize the scent.
The Vision
The purpose of this project is to make perfume making more accessible and transparent, providing a free database of practical information, accords, and scent-making tips for all those interested in the art of perfumery.
