About the formula
Introduction
👨🏻🔬🧪Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche is one of the most iconic fragrances of the 80s which is still present in many perfume collections. Launched in 1982 with the perfumer Pierre Wargnye, Drakkar Noir is an aromatic scent that features notes like lavender, carnation, bergamot, fir, oakmoss, cedar, amber, basil and many more which together are making of the most iconic fragrances for men. Today I am sharing with you the formula of this amazing and nostalgic strong barbershop perfume which I have from the “1000 Perfumes” book by Octavian Coifan, a famous romanian perfumes who lives and works in Paris now. I was lucky enough to have his books which unfortunately are discontinued since many years but I am very happy to constantly share precious information from his masterpiece books. The formulas I am sharing have as a purpose an exercise for perfumers who try to smooth their knowledge in perfume making, understand how aromachemicals work and also serve as a “skeleton” formula for making a new scent with some iconic fragrances DNA. In my opinion Drakkar Noir would be a great base in which you can add notes like incense, animalic notes like castoreum or musk or even accents of leather. Let me know if you tried this formula and leave a comment with your opinion about it or if you tried to add your personal touch to the formula. Also, if you think this post is helpful, don’t hesitate to share it. It may help others looking for information about perfume making and also supports my work. 🧪 See you soon! 👨🏻🔬
This is a perfume formula inspired by the classic Dune by Christian Dior, known for its modern yet iconic fig, cassis, rose, sandalwood, lavender, and tonka notes. It's a great exercise for perfumers looking for inspiration or wanting to personalize the original scent.
