Description:
COCONUT LOVERS, REJOICE!
After years of testing, tweaking, and a few fragrance meltdowns, I’ve finally cracked the code on my dream coconut accord!
This wasn’t just about tossing in a dash of gamma-Nonalactone and calling it a day. Nope. I wanted more. I wanted the richness, the creaminess, the soul of the coconut—elevated with nuance, complexity, and depth.
Let’s get one thing straight: coconuts aren’t just beach bar props with tiny umbrellas. They’re drupe royalty with a fascinating history—born in Southeast Asia, voyaged across oceans, and once thought to be divine gifts. The name “coconut”? It actually comes from the Spanish/Portuguese word “coco,” meaning head (those three little holes really do look like a face!).
In perfumery, coconut is tropical, sweet, milky, and oh-so-lactonic. I used materials like γ-Nonalactone (a.k.a. the creamy secret weapon behind fig and tuberose) to bring this accord to life.
The result? A fleshy, fresh, subtly sweet coconut accord that smells like vacation—but make it luxurious.
What other accords should I tackle next? Drop your requests in the comments!
