PerfumersWorld: Dipropylene glycol (DPG) is virtually odourless with a slightly-ethereal-green solvent note. interesting as a versatile solvent as it mixes with most essential oils but is also water soluble. acts as stabilizer for compounds due to its viscosity when used around 30% in a compound. not recommended for excessive use in compounds for cold-process soaps where over 5% can start to slow or inhibit tracing/saponification. avoid in oily or wax based products such as candles, wax melts, massage oils, lipsticks etc. due to solubility problems.
