Cola is so iconic and memory inducing. I’m sure everyone has enjoyed an ice cold coke during a hot summers day. To feel free fizz hit the back of your throat and almost burn in a tantalizing way as it goes down. The scent of the bubbles just tickling your nose. The sweet syrupy goodness as it hits your tongue. That’s what I wanted to recreate with this accord. That same fizzy tickle of your nose. That warms sweet, syrupy goodness we all craved and loved.

Creating a "Sparkle":

Creating fizziness in a fragrance can be tricky. To create a “Sparkle”. While it isn’t possible to actually put bubbles and carbonation into a fragrance. But a way to exude that characteristic and feeling. And of course, interpretation is everything. There are a couple different ways that you can produce this sensation. But I found that adding menthol with benzaldehyde and Allyl amyl glycolate gave me the desired result. White grapefruit is a great material to give this feeling as well, and it’s perfect since it is already a part of the accord to begin with.

The Cola Vibe:

Cola flavor is comprised of just vanilla, spices, and citrus. So it is actually quite easy to obtain a “cola” like vibe just using these basic principles. But creating a full and rounded cola accord requires more than just those basics. I love this accord because it utilizes many natural materials which I am always happy to incorporate.
