Palo Santo ReplacerFrom Michael Nordstrand:
"After the 50th amendment of IFRA, which banned Mint Lactone, Palo Santo and numerous other beautiful materials have been affected. After working with the idea of Western Incense for the Thurible accord, I wanted to recreate the beauty of an incense endemic to the Americas and the heritage of non-European people; i.e., Palo Santo: its menthonic, cooling aspect; the lactonic, almost coconut-like facet; the dry and green terpenic woody notes, which lean on cedar and sandalwood materials here; the citrusy effects of Limonene and some of the fresh floralcy from Myrcene and Terpineol; and the smoky notes that come from burning the wood as incense. This formula includes materials that naturally occur in the wood as well as touches of materials to bring depth, diffusion and nuance for fine fragrance, all without using mint lactone or its precursors which are now highly problematic in formulation. I hope you enjoy the accord and play with the proportions to give the effect of your own impressions of the material."
