Description
Description:
Today, I wanted to take a moment to share something a little different. With the upcoming release of the Vintage Collection, I thought it would be meaningful to begin exploring what this project truly represents—beyond the perfumes themselves.
At the heart of this collection are a few guiding principles:
1. To restore tradition and genuine craftsmanship to modern perfumery.
2. To trace the origins of contemporary perfumery and pay homage to its early foundations.
3. To step into the shoes of early perfumers—those working with a much more limited palette—and understand how they managed to create fragrances that were not only groundbreaking but timeless.
One of the main creative constraints I embraced for this collection was to limit my own materials to those available during that formative era—when organic chemistry was just beginning to revolutionize the art. While I didn’t adhere to this restriction with complete rigidity, it was both inspiring and humbling to work within a framework that demanded resourcefulness over abundance.
It’s worth noting that perfumery back then existed in a world largely free of regulation—an open canvas for experimentation. That freedom, combined with limited access to materials, fostered incredible innovation.
In this post, I want to spotlight the generous use of natural materials in one of the compositions. While this is only a small glimpse of the full formula, I hope it gives you a feel for the richness and depth we’re aiming for. When you finally smell the finished fragrance, I invite you to revisit this and explore it with us on a deeper level.
We’re beyond excited to bring these creations to life—and even more thrilled to soon share them with you.
