Perfumer at heart, bio in progress

Since I was 10 years old, I have been fascinated with perfumery. I learnt some things about perfumery in an Arabic-style perfume bar. After that I bought my first materials and started blending. It took me a while before I could make things that I liked. However, with motivation and determination, I got there. I would like to encourage other enthousiasts to persue their journey in this craft. After all, perfumery is a slow process, it does not matter how long it took you, what matters most is that you kept on trying. I would say that as a perfumer, my favourite fragrance family is florals, as I adore their complexity and realism. Currently I'm fiftheen years old. At the moment most of my perfumery time is occupied by visting indie en industrial fragrance professionals. I'm really looking forward to the small internship that I might be able to do at IFF in May. If you want, you can find me on LinkedIn, I post there sometimes.

Cozy Couch
Competition Category: HYGGE I would like to paint you an olfactory picture. Imagine your sitting on the couch, wrapped in a soft yellow blanket. While you are enjoying the cozy domesticity of winter, you are drinking a cup of your favourite Chai. There is a crackeling fire in the hearth, and everyonce in a while, you catch whiffs of your favorite sandalwoodiffuser. The technical explanation of the formula: The sandalwoodmaterials and the Cedramber create a basic mellow, dry woody base, for everthing else to sit upon. The Benzoin resinoid & Ethylene brassylate, smooth it out and help with the structure. The Suederal makes it a bit darker and more complex. The Coumarin makes it a bit sweeter and nuanced, it adds a almost edible quality, that reminds me of a Dutch cookie called ´Speculaas´ The Clove and Cinnamon truly shine here, they colour the main part of the formula, and they are responsible for the warming effect. The Nerolidol makes it a bit lighter, backs up the spicyness and blends it all together. Finally, the Frankincense adds a resinous glow to finish it off. I'm really glad that I can take part in this awesome perfumery competition! Compliments to the ones that organized it and to the ones that help with the execution. All the best, Rein
