Coquito. A traditional Puerto Rican beverage consumed during Christmas. It’s like a coconut eggnog. Coquito translates to “Little Coconut” and is usually made with a heavy pour of rum. This very creamy and sweet delight was an interesting accord to create as you don’t typically see creamy and boozy together in many compositions. The balance of those aspects really was a bit of a challenge as many of the materials were fighting for front stage.
The citrus adds lift and dimension to prevent it from being just a dense sweet amalgamation of coconut and vanilla. The spice adds another layer of depth and brings this accord to life.
I remember my first time tasting this beverage and almost falling out of my seat from how strong it was 😅 so this is reflected in this particular formula.
